The Way That Is Right

Here is a place that we share what was so inspiring about a book you have read. For me I think we would all agree that the bible is the most important, and it's hard to imagine at times how they managed to keep their faith without the collection of the 66 books that we carry as nonchalant with our leather covers. :),

Today we have a history of writers that have added within their era's with such a wealth of definition that understanding has become commonplace. With authors like C.S. Lewis, Chuck Smith, Chuck Swidell, James Dobson, Joyce Meyers, Gayle Erwin, Frank Peretti and hundreds more how can we not tell the world?

Leave a living story of your favorite book and how authors have touched you in that special way that our Lord met you on that day.

The Bible.
Letters from a Skeptic by Greg & Edward Boyd. This book was great. It is a gathering of letters between a son who is a Christian and a father who is a non-believer. The son asks his dad what are the things that keep him from believing in God? It goes into questions that a lot of us may have heard from non-believers like "Why do bad things happen to good people?" "How could an all-powerful and all-loving God allow the church to do so much harm to humanity for so long?" I think this book is a great ice breaker and can help open the lines of communication if you know someone who may be questioning what they believe. I gave this book to my husband to read (He had become disillusioned with all religions and had no desire to start attending any church) After reading this book it is one of the things that he says started making him think about God again. He started attending church with me on a regular basis and became saved July 12, 2009. God is amazing!
On my last trip to Massachusetts my mother's friend gave me a book called, "Where does a mother go to resign?" By Barbara Johnson. I started reading it there and finished by the time I got back to Vegas. Good thing because I left it in the airport bathroom, probably God's plan for someone else to find it that needed it. This book is about the tragedy's in her life. They include her husband being in a tragic auto accident on the way to a retreat. She is the one that finds him on the road. She was told by Drs. it would be best to put him in a nursing home, two sons being killed, and one disappearing into the gay life style for 11 yrs. Through all of this you can see God at work. Spatula ministries is born. I Don't want to tell too much in case you want to read it. Good Book!
Eric, I can feel your pain. One night I was the nurse that admitted my friend and co worker of 11 yrs. and it was so much different than taking care of someone that you do not know well. When things hit home that is very hard. As you know my surgery is at the end of the month and my mother is coming here. I told her that I know she has a lot going on there and that she doesn't have to come and that I will be fine. I told her I did not want to burden her. Well, I guess those were the wrong words because she called me the next day and said I want you to listen to me. You are my daughter and you are having surgery and I want to be there. You could never be a burden to me. Wow, that really penetrated my heart. A few years ago I had surgery and my husband was there every night at the hospital and even helped me take a shower. Something woke up inside me then and I realized how much I really loved this guy. When we take care of the people we love our bond grows even more. I can feel the love that you have for your parents and I am sure that they can too. As Christians we are to rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep, Romans 12:15. I will continue to keep you and your family in my prayers. Thanks for sharing with me. LYSIC Maryann
This is a great book for engaged or married women. This book was given to me as a gift for my bridal shower; I was shocked when I got it. I was like..."who would give me a book as a gift"? I opened and read the first page and i could not put it down, I finished the book in literally 3 days...I cried, meditated, laughed and cried some more! Trust me this is a book to read before you say "I Do" or even "What do I do"! I can say this was the best present ever.... I guess i should mention the name of the book huh?

The Power of a Praying Wife
by Stormie Omartian

*I hope it blesses you as much as it has been a blessing for me!
CoCo,

Re: The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian,
I'm not the most avid reader but that happens to be one this is in my library at home. There is
a lot of the hidden treasures in her book and a great reference, thank you.
Thank you Michelle,
I'm a firm believer that reading opens the reality of new revelation. The hard part is which books to read and this is proof he read the right book. Nice job.
Oh this sounds like one of those tear jerkers, hehe. I will put that one one my list for sure. Thanks Maryann
I've loved this book called Strike the original match by chuck swindoll for marriages. It encourages people to build up their partners and not tear them down. I've used it for years for marriage classes. jim
How is it that I just happen to find this book on a dusty shelf in my mother's closet when I really needed to learn something? The fruits of the spirit have not been difficult except "Joy". I knew that was the one that I was lacking and needed, but how? How can we have joy when we are hurting inside? How can we have Joy when we do not understand why God would allow certain things to happen in our lives that do not seem fair? Through this book "Prison to Praise" I found the answer. "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances for this is God's will for you"! 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. Wow, that is deep! I once heard a Pastor explain how a bumper to bumper driver is always reacting to what is right in front of him. We can't see what is beyond. The Apostles reacted in dispair to what happened to Jesus when he was crucified. They couldn't see the Joy that was to come in the ressurection. So today I thank God for my troubles and for the joy to come. Check out this book "Prision to Paise" by Merlin Carothers
"Liberty and Tyranny"
by Mark Levin

Dear brothers and sisters, I will never be, nor do I feel the need to be, a Pastor who believes that political, cultural and behavioral issues are off limits for comment or discussion in the church setting. In fact, I believe it is part of the Pastor's role to incorporate prophetic insight, regarding these topics, into the ministry he is called to fulfill. In view of this fact, I want to suggest a book that will help every believer understand the difference between "Liberty and Tyranny", conservatism and liberalism.

God's word reveals that God has chosen to utilize liberty in the way he leads His people. God's word reveals that the use of tyranny as a leadership style is something that God refuses to do.

Anyway: This book is a must read for those who want to understand the battle between the political powers in the U.S.A. today. America is in grave danger and every believer should know and understand why.

This book is fascinating and informative.
Growing Slowly Wise by David Roper
I found this book in our Church Library. This book goes over the book of James in more depth. Some of my favorite chapters were "The Law That Sets You Free, Little Things Mean Alot, Faith That Works, and The Telltale Tongue." It inspired me to take another look at the book of James and read it in more detail. It made me take a look at myself and ask "What type of fruit am I bearing; any?" Be not only a learner of His Word but a doer. Here is one quote from the book that made me stop and think "For a plant, the failure to bear fruit is not a punishment visited upon it, but an unhappy departure from the purpose for which it was created." Check it out I think you will enjoy it!
