The Way That Is Right
For many people when a revealation, idea or some kind of thought comes to them it becomes a challenge to decide weather or not to share these ramblings with others. Risk is involved. What value does my thought have to others? Has anybody ever thought this before? If they have, did the decide not to share because they thought it to insignificant? Or mybe it just me and others dont think about it?
In this age of technology there is a prevailant sift from obtaining knowledge through printed words on pages of books to the text appearing on some kind of electronic screen. I have used both methods in my life, but because of my lifestyle at present, I find it easier to use my computer. Most people would agree there are very definate advantage to the more advanced method, but I want to share with you one minor mybe major side effect that I have stumbled across.
When I am engaged in reading text from a computer screen I often find my eyes drifting to other visual clutter that surrounds the words on the page. This in turn causes me to click or change the momentum of my thoughts to another area of information. I didnt notice this until recently when my computer froze up, I picked up a book and began to read. I found that I was generally more focused and there was a certian level of calmness. I was absorbing more information and not as distracted.
The computer is something that has worked its way into my life as something I am streched to be without, yet I think I will explore using books like I used to do when younger more often now. What do you think? Is it just me?

Comment by Greg Mosey on January 23, 2011 at 11:08pm Karen you know me to well. Back in the day when I had to learn how to talk all over again I finally starting typing and reading as an exercise. It started as a task that in time it grew into a habit. Never been much of the casual reader to pick up a novel or good relaxing story. But when I get into the gathering of facts and information that stimulates the thinking process, it's hard to get me distracted.
