The Way That Is Right
Galatians 3:26 For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes.28 There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.
Have you ever considered what exactly it means to be adopted into God's family? This is not just the “legal” definition, it is whole and complete. God does not look at it as the state may with guidelines on what the bare minimum is. God has so much more for us. As an adoptive parent, this becomes a stronger reality for me as time goes by. My children are part of a complete family unit now. I would give anything to my kids and want to give them so much more than I had, even though they are not biologically mine. I would die for them and of course God loves us even more and demonstrated His love for us by sending Jesus to die for our sins. Jesus wanted to make sure we were not alone or left as orphans and sent His Holy Spirit to live in us. We are part of a bigger family and have an inheritance through adoption into God’s family. It is parallel for my kids, they are part of a bigger family and have an inheritance waiting for them. It is hard for me to comprehend that every promise in God's Word is available to me as a believer because I know myself and my shortcomings. The fact that my family is very fractured may play a part in not fully appreciating God's family, as I never had very strong family ties. Now, I am at a place in life that I am starting to understand that God wants to bless me, because I am His son and not because I deserve it. I want to bless my children because I love them, not necessarily because they deserve it. It’s love that drives it, not compulsion. Sometimes people make the mistake of saying “We are all God’s children.” That is not true, we are all God’s creation, it is our faith that makes us His children. Because we have the free will to reject the love of God. If you have not really considered the “ALL” that God has or the depth in which He chooses to love you, I hope these verses will sink deeper into your soul!
